Traditionally, guests will give red envelopes with money inside to the couple as wedding gifts. The red envelope is called "hong bao"or "li shi", in Chinese, which represents "good fortune".The stuffed red envelope is the most common and feasible Chinese wedding gift because it helps the newlyweds pay for the wedding costs and begin to establish their life together.
Though money has long been an acceptable wedding gift, asking for it outright hasn’t always been viewed as proper etiquette. But attitudes have shifted, as long as requests for money are made tactfully, they are now perfectly fine.
前几天，#国庆8天假7个朋友结婚#冲上了微博热搜。“不是在婚礼现场，就是在参加婚礼的路上”，这句话用来形容部分人的双节假期毫不夸张。据网友分享，最吓人的份子钱要数温州，8888都算是平常事。相比之下，广东地区则被视为“一股清流”，据说最多不过三五百，一些地区还会将份子钱折角后原封返回。
