第一个故事是关于我学习英语的故事：我来自于一个福建内陆的小县城，英语教育并不发达。我从初一才开始学英语，一开始我对英语充满着浓厚的兴趣，我不厌其烦地记住英语课本中的每一个单词，一遍又一遍地阅读课本中的每个句子。但是毕竟在中学阶段我们学的是哑巴英语，试想一下我们的英语老师的发音都不标准的情况下，我们的口语能好到哪里,而当我没有电脑的时候我唯一的学习英语的途径就是通过老师。当我考上大学，在大一的口语课上，我发现好多同学英语发音都很标准，但是我自己却连张口都不敢。因此，为了提高自信和培养兴趣，我经常去校内或校外的英语角练习口语。一段时间后，我发现自己的胆量变大了，性格也变得开朗了，当然口语也有所提高。毕业来到广州，每天三点一线的生活让我觉得枯燥无味，我开始怀念在学校学习英语的日子，于是我在网上找到了海珠广场英语角，在这里你可以认识不同领域的人并开阔自己的视野，在这里真诚感谢志愿者们的努力付出，从而为大家提供了一个这么好的英语学习平台。
第二故事是关于我的职业定位：我的专业是声学，所以毕业后我顺利成章地到一个音响制造公司上班，但是工作半年后，我发现自己并不喜欢枯燥无味的设计工作，直觉告诉既然我喜欢英语，喜欢和人打交道，为何不尝试做外贸。度过艰难的一周后，我做了一个决定，放弃自己的专业决定做外贸，我觉得相比于找到自己喜欢的工作放弃自己的专业并不可惜。
最后我想引用乔布斯2005年在斯坦福大学毕业典礼上演讲的一段原话和大家分享：“我们一生中很大一部分的时间都被工作占据这，获得成就感的唯一方法是做着你认为是件了不起的工作，而要做了不起的工作就要热爱你所做的事情，如果你还没有找到，那么继续寻找不要放弃。就像与内心有关的其他事情一样，当你找到的时候，你自己会知道的。并且就像所有了不起的关系，情况只会随着时光渐入佳境，所以继续寻找不要放弃”
Follow your heart, be the best of yourself
Hello everyone, I am potter, an ordinary person who is fascinated with English, and I’d like to share two stories about myself here.
The first story is about my English study: I come from an small inland town where the English education is not developed. I get in touch with English until I was at seventh grade, I was interested in English study from the beginning, I tried to remember every new word in the textbook tirelessly, and read every sentence in the textbook loudly time and time again.But I learned dumb English at my middle school stage after all, how could your English accent be native while your teacher’s pronunciation is not standard, and the only way for me to learn English is from my teacher when I don’t have computer and even have no idea about internet. When i went to college, I found some of my classmates’ oral English are very good in my oral English lesson, I was so frustrated that i couldn’t even open my mouth then, so I decided to make some changes.I went to English corner inside or outside of my school once I was available, gradually,I became more and more confident, and of course my oral English made a big progress after some days.After my graduation, monotonous life drove me crazy, I began to miss my old days of English study in college, then I happened to find Haizhu square online.I am glad to find that I can meet people from different fields and broaden my eyesight here,and I really appreciate the volunteers’ efforts of building such a wonderful English study platform.
The second story is about my career position:as my major is acoustic,naturally I went into a loudspeaker manufacture and be a acoustic engineer after my graduation, but I found my job was tedious after half a year,then my instinct told me why not give a shot at international trade work since I like English and communicating with others so much.After one tough week,I decided to quit my job and turn to international trade field. In my opinion, it is not a shame for me to give up my major and do what I like.
At last, I’d like to quote a sentence from steve job’s speech at stanford university graduation ceremony in 2005 as a farewell message: your work will fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is a great work,and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.If you haven’t found it yet,keep looking,and don’t settle, as with all matters of the heart, you will know when you find it,and like any great relationships,it just get better and better as years go on,so keep looking,don’t settle.
